‘Bonjour’, ‘Ca Va’ et ‘Bienvenue’!!
The second annual French Day for Year 7 took place at Whitley Academy on Friday 17th January and pupils were treated to a fun-packed day of activities to highlight the importance of France in the areas of technology, cooking, sport, theatre and many more. Activities included the French concept of ‘parkours – free running’; physical theatre in the creation of a human Eiffel Tower; cooking up French pancakes in catering; designing clothes in the style of French designers; building their own Eiffel Towers; researching French facts and about the revolution as well as finding out where French is spoken throughout the world.
Year 7 showcased their day in an assembly held at the end of the day and representatives from each form presented to the rest of the year group and were very enthusiastic about what they had learned. The day forms part of Whitley’s commitment to being an International School and photographs and video clips from the day will be shared with our French partner school, whom we are visiting in February half term.
If you are interested in volunteering or becoming involved in any of our International events, please do not hesitate to contact Mr M. Purslow at the Academy – it would be great to hear from you.
‘Merci et Bonne journée!!’
