Sainsbury's Chief Executive visits Whitley 2011

On Tuesday 24th May 2011, Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King took time away from the business world to speak to pupils at Whitley Academy .

He was director of foods for Marks and Spencer and held senior posts at Asda before joining Sainsbury’s in 2004.

Mr King was invited to the school in Abbey Road, Whitley, in the hope what he had to say to the 15 to 18-year-olds about his career so far would inspire the young people to fulfill their potential.

Speaking before the event, he said: “I’m looking forward to meeting the students and hope I can provide a little inspiration for the career choices they will be making, perhaps even within the retail industry.”

His motivational talk was arranged through the school’s connection with the national charity Speakers for Schools, which aims to bring motivational and authoritative speakers and leaders in their fields to state secondary schools and colleges.

It was a very enjoyable day for all involved and we thank Mr King for his time to come in and speak to us.
